to wonder if anybody who saw a show pre 90 could ever pull the trigger of a gun aimed at an innocent person?

ducats what's up with that comment.lets see Ira Einhorn killed his girlfriend and stuffed her in a box and split, ira saw many dead shows in the 60's and 70's and one of the founders of earth day.ron stark cia/eternal brotherhood of love member/mass supplier of lsd was a deadhead with links to over 50 murders worlwide but died before he could be charged.the hells angels,do i need to go into that.the list can go on and these events happen prior to 1990.with that said i see no connection with the dead and what happen at vt.this will happen again either with a gun,bat,knives,chainsaw,ax,etc...it's the nature of the beast in the world we live in.sad but true.i pray for peace.

G&K, i have to admit that i don't have very great knowledge of most '90s era Dead shows, but what i have heard, particularly the Jerry band stuff, well, it's still Jerry to my ears, still the same great soul that he was way back in the early years and what followed; whether you saw the band in their infancy, somewhere along the mid-road, or toward the end, it was the Grateful Dead, and their were nuts in the beginning and nuts at the end ... just my take anyway.

That is the one thing I feel bad about; having more or less given up on the boys after 82 I now regret that I didn't stick with JGB longer...the stuff Ashes sent, and what you have told me, about make me realize I missed out.

hey Will, it's funny though, as i was writing that reply to G&K, i kept thinking is my listening to Jer in those later years skewed by my understanding and knowledge of what he was dealing with demons-wise, and thus, providing me a more open-minded, compassioned view of him as still a musical force that could reach deep within me and touch something profound; i don't know really, just like much of the non-GD stuff that i've heard, real good, particularly the Garcia/Grisman shows

...Or did it still just feel better than 99% of the other stuff out there at the time?

:)

Why 'pre 90?'

I felt Jerry's soul didn't come through his music as much towards the end as it did at the start - so I just picked the arbitrary 90

Same question. After the Boston Garden shows in '91, I certainly felt no greater animosity towared people in general than I did before the shows, and a friend who I took for his first shows then isn't sporting Charles Manson t-shirts now.
